THE SPIRITUAL FACTOR

The Gospel according to John (The third of three parts)
Jesus claims to be the Son of God. (22-38)
"It was the time of the
feast of Dedication in Jerusalem..It was winter, .and Jesus was in the Temple
walking up and down in the Portico of Salomon..The Jews gathered round him
and said, "How much longer are you going to keep us in suspense? If you
are the Christ, tell us openly.".Jesus replied:
I have told you, but you do not believe. The
works I do in my Father’s name are my witness; but do you not believe,
because you are no sheep of mine. The sheep that belong to me listen to my
voice; I know them and they follow me. I give them eternal life; they will
never be lost and no one will ever steal them from my hand. The
Father, for what he has given me, is greater than anyone, and no
one can steal anything from the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one".
"The Jews fetched stones to stone him,
.so Jesus said to them, "I have shown you many good works from my
Father; for which of these are you stoning me?".The Jews answered him,
"We are stoning you, not for doing a good work, but for blasphemy;
though you are only a man, you claim to be God." Jesus
answered: "It is not written in your Law: " I said, you
are gods?" So it uses the word gods of those people to whom the
word of God was addressed --- and scripture cannot be set aside. Yet to
someone whom the Father has consecrated and sent into the world you say,
"You are blaspheming" because I said, " I am Son of
God." If I am not doing my Father’s work, there is no need to
believe me; but if I am doing it, then even if you refuse to believe in me,
at least believe in the work I do; then you will know for certain that the
Father is in me and I am in the Father."
For those who do not have passed through some spiritual experience,
is problematic to attend the one who speaks, not only like a one person but
also like several. Since the understood one that we have on the things does
not agree with the reality that the man from Nazareth shows in these Biblical
writings. This reality is based on the participation of the spirit in
the human being, something that we still have not got to understand.
The resurrection of Lazarus 11.(17-27)
"On arriving, Jesus found
that Lazarus had been in the tomb for four days already...Bethany is
only about two miles from Jerusalem, .and many Jews had come to Martha
and Mary to comfort them about their brother.. When Martha heard
that Jesus was coming she went to meet him. Mary remained
sitting in the house. .Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if you had
been here, my brother would not have died, .but even now I know that God will
grant whatever you ask of him." Jesus said to her, "Your
brother will rise again." .Martha said, "I know he will rise
again at the resurrection on the last day." .Jesus said:
"I am the resurrection.
Anyone who believes in me, even
though that person dies, will live, and whoever lives and believes in me
will never die.
Do you believe this?
"Yes, Lord," she said, "I
believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, the one who was
to come into this world".
In the discussions between Jesus and them who considered
themselves to know more than he, there were several points that did not give
the smaller possibility in some agreement, in accord to the tremendous
difference of capacities between Jesus and his adversaries. We have
already seen for example, when it treated on the spirit, the Scriptures,
the devil, but first of all with regard to the coming and mission of
the Messiah.
Now we can examine the text that concerns the resurrection of dead.
In this dialogue between Marta and Jesus it seems with all
clarity the difference between the understood one that the majority of the
people has on the resurrection of dead and what Jesus clarify under
the conduction of the Spirit.
The Spirit
reveals, "I am the
resurrection" because "I am the Life" and each
person who accepts the Spirit as his guide and companion are
going to testify that this is certain.
What is more surprising is without a doubt the form that Jesus utilises
to define, how the resurrection of dead is going to be executed.
"Anyone who believes in
me, even though that person dies, will live, and whoever lives and believes
in me will never die".
There are two types of different experiences of life, but that in the
end they will lead to the same aim, the eternal life.
Jesus reveals with these words, that to fulfil his mission
completely, he was in need of a longer period of time than the majority of
the people supposed.
The people of Israel will not be released overnight, nor either
of the form that all hoped. The time has demonstrated to us that it was right.
This last reference: "and
whoever lives and believes in me will never die" is indicating
beforehand his final coming, that will consolidate the liberation
of all the humanity, when the times have been marked and is the hour to
do that.
"Do you believe this? Jesus asked to Marta, she responded
to the question indirectly, because she did not understand much of which Jesus
spoke. But she did something that only very few did in that time. She had
confidence in him and in God and that she expressed it in these words:
"Yes, Lord" and she
continued, "I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God the one
who was to come into this world."
Now we are before the chapters of this gospel, that summarise very well
several conversations that Jesus had with those people who himself
chose to reveal the plans God and his personal participation in
them.
These speeches are very important, since here it is explained
indirectly why Jesus was identified with the symbol "the Word".
We have seen that in the introduction of this gospel and the reason is in the
way that Jesus would carry out to defeat completely the misleading
works of the "devil" on the human beings.
This way is the total truth in his teaching. The liberation of
each individual is absolutely depending of the acceptance or rejection to the
message or gospel of the Nazarene.
In these terms is written in the gospel of the apostle John, CAP 8:32:
"you will come to know the truth and the truth will set you free".
Jesus makes all effort to be clearest possible with his friends,
first of all with regard to the active presence of God in his
person, through the Holy Spirit, who is the one that teaches by
means of him.
In addition he emphasises seven times during the course of this
conversation with his disciples, that the one that comes after him it is
the Helper, the Holy Spirit or the Spirit of Truth. This is
the one that goes to remain with them for always and it is going to
guide them until the aim that God has reserved for them.
14. - ( 1-31
)
"Do not let your hearts
be troubled.
You trust in God, trust also
in me.
In my Father’s house there are many
places to live in; otherwise I would have told you.
I am going now to prepare a place for you, and
after I have gone and prepared you a place, I shall return to take you to
myself, so that you may be with me where I am.
You know the way to the place where I
am going.
Thomas said, "Lord, we do not
know where you are going, so how can we know the way?". Jesus said:
"I am the Way; I am Truth and Life.
No one can come to the Father except through
me."
We must say some words about this declaration of Jesus, since here the
Nazarene makes a summary of everything what we already have said
during this essay on the spiritual factor. "I am the way; I am
the Truth and Life. No one can come to the Father except through me ".
Is it possible to see with clarity, after all the efforts that we have
done on the matter, who is the one that is speaking?
If still some doubt exists, we must repeat it once again. It is the
Spirit who speaks. Because the Spirit is the perfect middling that
the Life have in its disposal to transmit and execute the works and
will of God and by that reason it is also the Truth, since God
is the only one that does not need to lie to make His will.
Nobody can approach to God, in other way that through the
Spirit. For that reason we need to know most possible about the Spirit,
to be able to leave the present state of "Spiritual death"
in which all the human beings are before God, because of the
errors of ours first ancestors in theirs relations with the Creator of
the universe.
The Spirit is the only way that can overcome to the
death, as we are going it to see soon. It is the only matter that can
wake up the dead and make them living again, in such a way that theirs
existences do not become in vain and they reach the established aim that the Scriptures
call, the eternal life.
Of this form Jesus is doing clarity to his friends on the
necessity we have to receive and to learn to know the Spirit within
ourselves. "To walk" with the Spirit of the same form
that Jesus did it and accept the instructions and advice of the
Spirit. Because if we totally trust the Spirit, we are going to be able
to perceive the authentic human being we are instead of the one we
"suppose" we are.
"If you know me,
you will know my Father too.
From this moment you know him and have seen
him.
Philip said, "Lord, show us the
Father and then we shall be satisfied."
Jesus said to him, "Have I been
with you all this time, Philip, and you still do not know me?
Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father, so
how can you say, "Show us the Father"?
Do you not believe that I am in
the Father and the Father is in me?
What I say to you I do not speak of my
own accord: it is the Father, living in me, who is doing
his works.
You must believe me when I say that I
am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe
it on the evidence of these works.
In all truth I tell you, whoever
believes in me will perform the same works as I do myself, and
will perform even greater works, because I am going to the Father.
Whatever you ask for in my name I will
do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
If you ask me for anything in my name, I will do it.
If you love me you will keep my
commandments.
I shall ask the Father, and he will
give you another Paraclete (1) to be with you forever, the
Spirit of truth (2) whom
the world can never accept since it neither sees nor knows him; but you
know him, because he is with you, he is in you.
I shall not leave you orphans; I shall
come to you.
In a short time the world will no longer see
me; but you will see that I live and you also will live.
On that day you will know that I am in my
Father and you in me and I in you.
Whoever holds to my commandments and keeps
them is the one who loves me: and whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and
I shall love him and reveal myself to him.
Judas --not Judas Iscariot--said to
him, "Lord, what has happened, that you intend
to show yourself to us and not to the world?".Jesus replied:
Anyone who loves me will keep my
words, and my Father will love him, and we shall come to
him
and make a home in him.
Anyone who does not love me does not keep my
words.
And the word that you hear is not my
own: it is the word of the Father who sent me.
I have said these things to you while still
with you: but the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit,(Helper)(3)
whom the Father will send in my
name, will teach you everything and remind you of all I have
said to you.
Peace I bequeath to you, my own peace I
give you, a peace which the world cannot give, this is my gift to
you.
Do not let your hearts be troubled or
afraid.
You heard me say: I am going away and
shall return.
If you loved me you would be glad that I am
going to the Father for the Father is greater than I.
I have told you this now, before it
happens, so that when it does happen you may believe.
I shall not talk to you much
longer, because the prince of this world is on his way.
He has no power over me, but the world
must recognise that I love the Father and that I act just as the Father
commanded."
The disciples and the world 15. (25-27) 16. (1-4)
"But all this was only to
fulfil the words written in their Law: They hated me without
reason.
When the Paraclete comes (4) whom I shall send to you from the Father, the
Spirit of truth who issues from the Father, (5) he will be my witness.
And you too will be witnesses, because
you have been with me from the beginning.
I have told you all this so that you may not
fall away.
They will expel you from the synagogues, and
indeed the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think he is doing a
holy service to God.
They will do these things because they have
never know either the Father or me.
But I have told you all this, so that
when the time for it comes you may remember that I told you."
It is not sure that those modest and humble people that Jesus chose
himself to be his disciples, "understood", or rather, grasp
the message of the Nazarene on someone that would have to come after
him and in form of a spirit. Because this word was in these days so hidden as
it is nowadays.
It was much easier to identify like "angels" to the servants
of God and like "demons" to the lackeys of Satan, although
in both cases the common people knew very little about the nature of these
and the form to reveal themselves. One counted as it bases what some people
had experimented on the matter, without to be this somewhat common and daily
phenomenon.
We saw it in the conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus. Only
few people could realise the importance of the words of the Nazarene. That
was something so special that even after two thousand years of human
experience, still is for the great majority a great mystery.
The cause of this situation in specific is the manipulation of the Christian
doctrine in the great Mediterranean civilisations and during the
last two thousand years.
The word "Christ" and even "Paraclete" who in many Biblical
versions is used instead of the "Helper" or Holy
Spirit, verifies this fact among many others points.
But, the most serious of everything it is the fact that the specific
message that Jesus transmitted his disciples, has been transformed and
distorted of such form, that it has becoming to all kinds of thing, except a
real and effective connection between the human beings and the
Spirit (God).
The coming of the Paraclete (Helper) 16.- ( 5-15 )
"I did not tell you this
from the beginning, because I was with you; but now I am going to the one who
sent me.
Not one of you asks, "Where are you
going?"
Yet you are sad at heart because I have told
you this.
Still, I am telling you the truth: it is for
your own good that I am going, because unless I go, the Paraclete (6)
will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
And when he comes, he will show the world
how wrong it was, about sin, and about who was in the right, and about
judgement.
About sin: in that they refuse to believe
in me; about who was in the right: in that I am going to the Father
and you will see me no more; about judgement: in that the prince of
this world is already condemned.
I still have many things to say to you but
they would be too much for you to bear now.
However, when the Spirit of truth (7) comes he
will lead you to the complete truth, since he will not be speaking of his own
accord, but will say only what he has been told; and he will reveal to you
the things to come.
He will
glorify me, since all he reveals to you will be taken from
what is mine.
Everything the Father has is mine;
that is why I said : all he reveals to you will be taken from what is mine".
16.- ( 25-33 )
"I have been telling you
these things in veiled language.
The hour is coming when I shall no longer
speak to you in veiled language but tell you about the Father in plain
words.
When that day comes you will ask in my name;
and I do not say that I shall pray to the Father for you, because the Father
himself loves you for loving me and believing that I came from God.
I came from the Father and have come
into the world and now I am leaving the world to go to the Father .
His disciples said, "Now you are
speaking plainly and not using veiled language. Now we see that you know
everything and need not wait for questions to be put into words; because of
this we believe that you came from God". Jesus answered them Do
you believe at last? Listen; the time will come- indeed it has come already- when
you are going to be scattered, each going his own way and leaving me alone.
And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. I have
told you all this so that you may find peace in me. In the world you will
have hardship, but be courageous: I have conquered the world." (Observe
that)
The prayer of Jesus 17. (1-8)
"After saying this, Jesus
raised his eyes to heaven and said: Father, the hour has come: glorify
your Son so that your Son may glorify you; so that, just
as you have given him power over all humanity,
he may give eternal life to all those you
have entrusted to him.
And eternal life is this: to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom
you have sent.
I have glorified you on earth by finishing
the work that you gave me to do.
Now, Father, glorify me with that glory I
had with you before ever the world existed.
I have revealed your name (
Father ) to
those whom you took from the world to give me.
They were yours and you gave them to me, and
they have kept your word.
Now at last they have recognised that all you
have given me comes from you, for I
given them the teaching you gave to me, and they have indeed accepted it and
now for certain that I came from you,
and have believed that it was you who sent
me."
The dead of Jesus 19.- ( 28-30 )
"After this, Jesus knew
that everything had now been completed and, so that the scripture should be completely
fulfilled, he said: I am thirsty. A jar full of sour wine stood there; so,
putting a sponge soaked in the wine on a hyssop stick, they held it up to his
mouth.. After Jesus had taken the wine he said, "It is
fulfilled"; and bowing his head he gave up his spirit."
This is nothing else than what we call truth. Any illusions nor
fantasies, but what really happened in historical terms to this man
does came to the world two thousand years ago to rectify the course of this
planet.
Jesus, the man from Nazareth was executed without
contemplation, due something that until the present stays without
explanation. Because it is very much we do not know and we cannot understand
of the reality to which we belong. But in addition, due to the fact that
until this moment not yet we have assimilated the message or gospel of Jesus
from Nazareth, for lack of the verification of the power of the spirit,
as it is going to be narrated in the story that now continues.
The empty tomb 20. (1-31)
"It was very early on the
first day of the week and still dark, when Mary of Magdala come to the
tomb. She saw that the stone had been moved away from the tomb and came
running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus
loved. "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb," she said,
"and we don’t know where they have put him." So Peter set
out with the other disciple to go to the tomb.. They ran together, but the
other disciple, running faster than Peter, reached the tomb first; .he bent
down and saw the linen cloths lying on the ground, but did not go in.. Simon
Peter, following him, also came up, went into the tomb, saw the linen cloths
lying on the ground..and also the cloth that had been over his head; this was
not with the linen cloths but rolled up in a place by itself.. Then the other
disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in; he saw and he
believed.. Till this moment they had still not understood the scripture,
that he must rise from the dead. The disciples then went back home."
The appearance to Mary of Magdala
"But Mary was
standing outside near the tomb, weeping. Then, as the wept, she stooped to
look inside, .and saw two angels in white sitting where the body of Jesus had
been, one at the head, the other at the feet.. They said, "Woman, why are
you weeping?".."They have taken my Lord away," she replied,
"and I don’t know where they have put him." .As she said this she
turned round and saw Jesus standing there, though she did not
realise that it was Jesus..Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are
you weeping? Who are you looking for?" Supposing him to be the gardener,
she said, "Sir, if you have taken him away, tell me where you have put
him, and I will go and remove him." .Jesus said,
"Mary!". She turned round then and said to him in Hebrew,
"Rabbuni!"--which means Master.. Jesus said to her, "Do
not cling to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go and
find my brothers, and tell them: I am ascending to my Father and your
Father, to my God and your God." .So Mary of Magdala told
the disciples, "I have seen the Lord," and that he had said these
things to her".
Appearances to the disciples
"In the evening of the
same day, the first day of the week, the doors were closed in the room where
the disciples were, for fear of the Jews. Jesus came and stood among
them. He said to them, "Peace be with you," and after saying this,
he showed them his hands and his side..The disciples were filled with joy at
seeing the Lord, .and he said to them again, "Peace be with you.
As the Father sent me, so
am I sending you.
After saying this he breathed on them and
said: Receive the Holy Spirit."
Observe the similarity with this other mention:
"Yahweh God shaped man from the soil of the ground and
blew the breath of life into his nostrils, and man became a living
being".
It is necessary to make an evaluation of the Life, not from our deductions,
but on the base of what the Life has granted to us, by virtue of its
own magnificence.
"Then the devil said
to him, "If you are Son of God, tell this stone to turn into a
loaf. But Jesus replied, Scripture says "Human beings live
not on bread alone".
That is something inconceivable for us, that the Life actually
has an executive middling, powerful and as a perfect complement to
relate everything what is active in the universe and special in which
concerns the human being who is its own image and similarity.
This executive middling it is the Spirit. The Spirit counts
on a tremendous ratio of action, not in conformity with the laws of the
universe, but in agreement with the power that has done possible everything
what exists and that in addition is responsible, as much of its purpose as of
its final aim.
"If you forgive anyone’s sins, they are
forgiven; if you retain anyone’s sins, they are retained."
"Thomas, called the Twin, who was one
of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came.. So the other disciples
said to him, "We have seen the Lord," but he answered, "Unless
I can see the holes that the nails made in his hands and can put my finger
into the holes they made, and unless I can put my hand into his side, I
refuse to believe." .Eight days later the disciples were in the house
again and Thomas was with them.. The doors were closed, but Jesus came
in and stood among them. "Peace be with you," he said.. Then he
spoke to Thomas, "Put your finger here; look, here are my hands. Give me
your hand; put into my side. Do not be unbelieving any more but believe.".
Thomas replied, " My Lord and my God." Jesus said
to him: You believe because you can see me. Blessed are those who
have not seen and yet believe. There was many other signs that Jesus worked
in the sight of the disciples, but they are not recorded in this book..These
are recorded so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the
Son of God, and that believing this you may have life through his
name."
We are going now to summarise the most important of this gospel.
Although first we must clarify that it is not Jesus, the man from Nazareth
to whom we are examined, but the content of the gospel according to the
apostle John that is related to the main subject of this essay, namely,
the spiritual factor.
For us it is important to remark three aspects that characterise
exactly this gospel. For our help, we have selected three citations that
contains precisely what we have commented with our own words in the three
parts of this essay.
First: On the
nature of the spirit and its operational range.
"Do not be surprised when I say: You
must be born from above.
The wind blows where it pleases; you can
hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where
it is going.
So it is with everyone who is born of the
Spirit".
The word spirit can be replaced with a series of symbols,
synonymous or similarities that are easy to confuse with which the
same word means.
For that reason, as also happens in the case of the word "God"
and the word "life", it is necessary to pass through the
necessary experience of life to be able "to know"
what the spirit is for something.
It is possible to denominate this phenomenon like "to become
aware from something" or "to reach notion of something",
but only in a totally personal or individual level.
A great difference exists between, "to contact" or
"to touch" the spirit and to make an "image"
or suppose what the spirit is in reality. This is something
that everyone must always remember if someone really will to arrive to the
truth.
According to this first citation that we have chosen, we could say that
it is the spirit whom always takes the initiative and it
reveals itself, independent of which we set out.
The spirit mobilises itself not only in the air, but also
everywhere. For that reason it is compared to the wind, but in the sense of movement,
action or activity. The spirit is at last the
characteristic and fundamental factor of everything what is alive.
The reference "to be born again " in which it concerns
the spirit, must to the fact that indeed, once the person has entered knowledge
or contact with the spirit, takes place a real change or
modification of the person's state of consciousness. This phenomenon
resembles a new departure point and that therefore can be considered like the
birth of a new person or rebirth of the person.
How and why it happens of this one way, it is something that one learn
to know, in the measurement that one is growing spiritually.
We only need this preliminary information, to make the indispensable
preparations in our interior, of such form that we pruned to get to verify,
real and indeed, the activity of the spirit.
Second: The
revelation of the Spirit in the person of Jesus from Nazareth.
"And the word that you
hear is not my own: it is the word of the Father who
sent me.
I have said these things to you while still
with you: but the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit, ( Helper )
whom the Father will send in my
name, will teach you everything and remind you of all I have
said to you."
The difference is enormous between this Jesus from Nazareth and the
majority of the religious leaders. What is fundamentally different, it is the
recognition that makes of whom it is the one that is teaching by means of
them.
"And the word that you
hear is not my own: it is the word of the Father who
sent me". That is something absolutely remarkable with regard to
the mission of the Nazarene.
He testifies himself and recognises that all the wisdom that emanates
of his lips; it is not something he supposes. It is not what he understands
or deduces. It is not something that can be considered like fruit
of his human intelligence. It is God himself that speaks via Jesus,
to teach that it is this way, as He wants to have a relation with each
human being.
Like human beings, we are able to take the spirit in us to
guide us towards the success, in place to permanent failure.
In conformity with this, is the Spirit itself who teach on itself
through Jesus from Nazareth. And what is more important of everything, it
is the fact that the Spirit itself is motivating us towards which
would begin to enter in activity after the dead of Jesus.
That is to say, the beginning of a new era or system of things, that
has the Spirit like the conduction factor, who will guide
the humanity once again, to the aim that God has had reserved from
the beginning to us. This goal is the Paradise, the Kingdom of God or
the eternal life.
The Helper, the Holy Spirit or the Spirit of the Truth,
is what God contributes of Himself to the person we are and has like
function several tasks to make, each one of them in our own benefit.
Between most outstanding we can indicate the following ones:
1. - God himself reveals this way his presence,
nature and intentions. This is in practice a privilege for the person who has
obtained this experience of life, since in general terms we are separated
from the grace of God.
2. - Thanks to this revelation, a radical change in
our person takes place, in everything what it concerns to the life, that is
to say, as far as the state in general in which we are under the present
circumstances.
3. - It returns to be activated the spiritual part
of the human being, who is the factor in common that the human being has with
God and that is the only resource that we can arrange to obtain the suitable
domination and government of our human nature and in all sense.
4. - The person obtains contact and connection with
the truth, which of by itself means that no longer he is in the need to rely
to "theories" or suppositions on one or another
thing. Because due this experience of life, the person has arrived to confirm
and to verify the fundamental things as they really are.
5. - This experience make possible to feel and to
note the liberation of our own being, since the guide or assistant who now
accompanies us, in the form of a perfect complement, is who assumes the
function of co-ordinator of all our functions. That makes possible with the
course of the time, to obtain a quality of life or perception of this one, in
harmonic and pleasant form, not only with regard to us, but with our
resemblance also and the whole creation too.
And third: The
relation between God - Spirit - Life.
"But the hour is
coming-indeed is already here -when true worshippers will worship the
Father
in spirit and truth: that
is the kind of worshipper the Father seeks.
God is spirit,
and those who worship must worship in spirit and truth."
Observe!!!
Before we finalise this small examination to this gospel, we are going
to lend certain consideration to this citation, that of explicit way relates
these three fundamental bases of the reality of which we comprised: God -
the Spirit - and the Life.
To them it is the human being in the urgent necessity to be
united, if it's about of trustworthy way, to verify all the authentic human
potential.
If we do not do it, and this is something that we confirm it
constantly, we delay this way the solution to many of our problems, due the
insufficiencies that dominate to us and that in the end even obstruct our
purer or deliberate projects.
The time comes, as Jesus said, when the human beings are
going to get to establish that this combination: God - Spirit -
Life, it is in fact the only foundation that it makes possible to us
successfully, a permanent and satisfactory advance.
The Spirit is the co-ordinator average who makes possible
continuity, effect and congruence between all the created things and the
Creator.
Without the spirit do not exist changes or transformations. ( NO Evolution )
Without the spirit there is no life.
The Spirit emphasises as much Jesus as the apostle John,

3.- EL EVANGELIO
SEGÚN EL APÓSTOL JUAN. (La tercera de tres partes)
Jesús proclama
ser el Hijo de Dios. ( 22-38 )
"Era el
tiempo de la fiesta de dedicación en el templo de Jerusalén.. Fue durante el
invierno,.. y Jesús subía y bajaba por las escaleras situadas entre las
columnas del rey Salomón en el templo.. Los judíos se empezaron a juntar a su
alrededor y le gritaban, ”¿Cuanto más nos vas a tener en la duda? ¡Si tu eres
el Mesías, dilo de una vez!”. Jesús les contestó: "Yo ya se los he
dicho, pero ustedes no quieren aceptarlo.
Todo lo que yo
hago en el nombre de mi Padre así lo demuestra; pero ustedes no lo aceptan, pues
ustedes no son de los mios.
Los que me
pertenecen escuchan mis palabras; yo los conozco y ellos me siguen.
Yo les doy vida
eterna; y ellos jamás se van a extraviar y nadie los va a poder tomar de mis
manos.
El Padre,
aquél que me creó, es el mayor de todos, y nadie puede quitar algo de
las manos de mi Padre.
Yo y el Padre somos uno solo."
”Los judíos
agarraron piedras para tirarle,. Jesús les preguntó, ” Yo les he mostrado
bastante sobre mi Padre, ¿Por que cosa me van ustedes a castigar?”.. Los
judíos le respondieron, ” Vamos a hacerlo, no por lo bueno que de ti
proviene, sino por blasfemia; ya que tu eres sólo un hombre, y pretendes
ser Dios”….Jesús les respondió : "¿No está escrito en la ley
de ustedes: ” Yo dije, ¿Son ustedes dioses?”
Si se llamó
”dioses” a quienes la palabra de Dios fue dirigida y los
escritos no pueden ser nulificados.
Pero a alguien
que el Padre mismo ha elegido y enviado hacia ustedes dicen: ”¡Tu
blasfemias!”
puesto que yo he
testificado ser hijo de Él.
Pues, si yo no
actúo de acuerdo a Él, ustedes no necesitan confiar en mi; pero yo así lo
hago, aunque ustedes no quieran confiar en mi, por lo menos acepten la misión
que yo estoy cumpliendo; entonces van a entender a plenitud que Él
está presente en mi y yo en Él."
Para quienes no
han pasado por alguna experiencia espiritual, resulta problemático escuchar a
alguien que habla, no sólo como una persona sino como varios, ya que
el entendido que tenemos sobre las cosas no concuerda con la realidad que el
hombre de Nazaret muestra en estos escritos bíblicos y que está basada en la
participación del espíritu en el ser humano que somos, algo que
todavía no hemos llegado a comprender.
La resurrección
de Lázaro. 11: 17-27
"Cuando
hubieron llegado, constató Jesús que Lázaro ya había estado en la tumba durante
cuatro días. Betania está situada no muy lejos de Jerusalén, . y muchos
judíos habían venido a la casa de Marta y María para consolarlas por la
muerte de Làzaro. Cuando Marta escuchó que Jesús había venido se volvió para
salir a encontrarlo. María continuó en la casa. Marta le dijo a Jesús, ”
Maestro, si tu hubieses estado aquí, mi hermano no habría fallecido, pero yo
sé que Dios puede hacer posible lo que tu le pidas”. Jesús le dijo, ”Tu hermano se va a levantar
de nuevo”. Marta le dijo, ”Yo sé que el se va a levantar en la
resurrección en el último día”. . Jesús le aclaró: "Yo soy la
resurrección.
El que en mi confía,
aunque muera, va a vivir, y todo aquél que vive y confía en mi jamás
habrá de morir.
¿Confías tu en
esto?
” Si, yo lo hago,
Maestro”, y continuó, ”Yo estoy segura que tu eres el Mesías, el elegido
de Dios que habría de venir al mundo”.
En las
discusiones que se suscitaron entre
Jesús y aquellos que se consideraban saber más que él, había varios puntos
que no daban la menor posibilidad de algún acuerdo, debido a la tremenda
diferencia de capacidades entre Jesús y sus adversarios. Ya lo hemos visto
por ejemplo, cuando se trataba sobre el
espíritu, las escrituras, el diablo, pero ante todo en lo que respecta
a la venida y misión del Mesías. Ahora nos encontramos ante el tema que
respecta a la resurrección de los muertos y en este diálogo entre
Marta y Jesús se nota con toda claridad la diferencia entre el entendido en
general que se tenía sobre la resurrección de los muertos y lo que Jesús
clarifica bajo la conducción del Espíritu.
El Espíritu
revela: "Yo soy la resurrección" ya que "Yo soy la
Vida" y cada persona que acepte al Espíritu como su guía y
compañero va a constatar que esto es cierto.
Lo que es más
sorprendente, es sin duda alguna la forma que Jesús utiliza para definir,
cómo la resurrección de los muertos se va a concretar.
”El que en mi
confía, aunque muera, va a vivir, y todo aquél que vive
y confía en mi jamás habrá de morir”.
Se trata de dos
tipos de experiencias de vida diferentes, pero que al final conducirán a la
misma meta, la vida eterna.
Lo que Jesús
revela con estas palabras, es que para cumplir completamente con su misión,
se necesita un tiempo mucho más largo que aquél que la mayoría de la gente
suponía.
El pueblo de
Israel no será liberado de la noche a la mañana, ni tampoco de la forma que
todos esperaban. El tiempo nos ha demostrado que él tenía razón.
Ésta última
alusión: ”y todo el que vive y confía en mi jamás habrá de morir” está
señalando de antemano su venida final, que habrá de consolidar la liberación
de toda la humanidad, cuando los tiempos se hayan cumplido y sea la
hora de ello.
”¿Confías tu en
esto?”, le preguntó Jesús a Marta, ella respondió indirectamente a la
pregunta, pues ella no entendía mucho de lo que Jesús hablaba. Pero ella hizo
algo que sólo muy pocos hicieron en ese tiempo. Ella tenía confianza
en él y en Dios y eso lo expresó en estas palabras: ”Si, yo lo hago,
Maestro” y ella continuó, ” Yo estoy segura de que tu eres el
Mesías, el elegido de Dios, el que habría de venir al mundo”.
Ahora estamos
ante los capítulos de este evangelio, que resumen muy bien varias conversaciones
que Jesús tuvo con esas personas que el mismo eligió para dar a conocer los
planes de Dios y su participación personal en estos.
Estos discursos
son muy importantes, ya que el motivo por el cual a Jesús se le representa
con el símbolo de: ”la Palabra”, como ya lo hemos visto en la
introducción de este evangelio, es a causa de la manera que habría de
llevarse a cabo la acción de contrarrestar la obra engañadora del "diablo"
sobre los seres humanos. Esta manera, forma o camino, habría de ser por medio
de la verdad de su enseñanza. La liberación de cada individuo es
absolutamente dependiente de la aceptación o rechazo al mensaje o evangelio
del Nazareno.
En estos términos
está escrito en el evangelio del apóstol Juan, cap. 8:32: "Y conocerán la
verdad y la verdad los hará libres"
Jesús se esfuerza
por ser lo más claro posible con sus amigos, ante todo en lo que respecta a
la presencia activa de Dios mismo en su persona, a través del Espíritu
Santo, quién es el que enseña por medio de él.
Además subraya siete
veces durante el transcurso de esta conversación con sus discípulos, que
el que viene después de él, es decir, el Ayudante, el Espíritu
Santo o el Espíritu de la verdad, es el que va a
permanecer con ellos para siempre y los va a guiar hasta la meta que
Dios tiene reservada para ellos.
14.- ( 1-31 )
"No se dejen
entristecer.
Si tienen
confianza en Dios, ténganla también conmigo.
En la casa de mi
Padre hay muchas moradas para habitar; en caso contrario se los habría dicho.
Dentro de poco
voy a prepararles un lugar a ustedes, y depues que lo haya hecho, volveré
para encontrarme con ustedes, para que ustedes también estén donde yo estoy.
Ustedes saben el
camino hacia donde yo voy.
Tomás dijo
entonces: ”Maestro, no sabemos donde vas, ¿Cómo vamos a saber el camino?”
Jesús dijo: Yo
soy el camino; la verdad y la Vida.
Nadie puede venir al Padre, si
no es por medio de mí."
No podemos dejar
de decir algunas palabras acerca de esta declaración de Jesús, ya que aquí el
Nazareno hace un resumen de todo aquello que nosotros ya hemos dicho durante
este ensayo sobre el factor espiritual. ”Yo soy el camino;
la Verdad y la Vida. Nadie puede venir al Padre, si no
es por medio de mi”.
¿Se alcanza a ver
con claridad, después de todos los esfuerzos que hemos hecho al respecto,
quién es el que está hablando?
Si todavía
existiera alguna duda, es nuestro deber repetirlo una vez más.
Es el Espíritu
que habla, ya que el Espíritu es el medio perfecto de comunicación que
la Vida dispone para ejecutar las obras de Dios y por ese motivo es también
la Verdad, puesto que Dios es el único que no necesita mentir
para hacer su voluntad.
Nadie puede
acercarse a Dios, si no es a través del Espíritu; por ello es que
necesitamos saber o conocer lo más posible acerca del Espíritu, para
poder abandonar el presente estado de ”muerte espiritual” en el cual todos
los seres humanos se encuentran, ante Dios, a causa de los errores de
nuestros primeros antepasados en sus relaciones con el Creador del universo.
El Espíritu
es el único medio que puede vencer a la muerte, como lo vamos a ver dentro de
poco, el único que puede despertar a los muertos y hacerlos vivvir de nuevo,
de tal modo que sus existencias no sean en vano y alcancen la meta ya
establecida de antemano, es decir, la vida eterna.
De esta forma
Jesús está haciendo claridad a sus amigos sobre la necesidad que tenemos de
recibir y aprender a conocer al Espíritu dentro de nosotros mismos,
"caminar" con él de la misma forma que Jesús lo hizo y aceptar su
instrucción y consejo, pues si nos confiamos plenamente a él, vamos a poder
percibir el auténtico ser humano que somos y no a aquél que nosotros
"creemos" ser.
"Si ustedes me
llegan a conocer, van del mismo modo a llegar a conocer a mi Padre.
Desde este
instante lo han llegado a conocer pues ustedes lo han visto.
Felipe dijo,
”Maestro, múestranos al Padre y quedaremos satisfechos”.
Jesús le dijo:
”¿No he estado contigo todo el tiempo, Felipe, y sin embargo no me reconoces?
Todos los que a
mí me han visto han visto al Padre, así es que, ¿Cómo puedes tu decir
entonces, ”Muéstranos al Padre”?
¿No confías en
que yo estoy en el Padre y el Padre está en mi?
Todo lo que yo digo no es algo de mi propia
voluntad: es el Padre, que vive en mi, el que hace sus obras.
Ustedes deben
confiar cuando yo digo que yo estoy en el Padre y el Padre
está en mi; por lo menos de acuerdo a lo que yo hago.
En verdad yo les
digo: todos los que en mi confían van a hacer las cosas que yo hago, y
aún cosas mayores, ya que yo voy a volver al Padre.
Todo lo que pidan
en mi nombre lo van a obtener, pues de esta forma el Padre será
honrado a través del Hijo.
Si ustedes piden
algo en mi nombre, yo lo voy a conseguir.
Si ustedes me
aman, seguirán mis consejos.
Yo voy a pedirle
al Padre y Él les va a enviar otro ayudante (1) que va a permanecer con ustedes
para siempre, el espíritu de la verdad
(2) que el mundo no puede
aceptar pues jamás lo ha visto ni lo conoce; pero ustedes si lo conocen, pues
él está con ustedes, en ustedes.
Yo no los voy a
dejar abandonados; sino que volveré hasta ustedes.
Dentro de poco el
mundo ya no me verá jamás; pero ustedes van a ver que yo vivo y ustedes
mismos van a vivir.
Será entonces cuando ustedes entiendan que
Yo estoy en el Padre
y ustedes en mi de la forma que Yo estoy en
ustedes.
Todos los que
siguen mis consejos y hacen uso de ellos son los que me aman: y el que
me ama será amado por mi Padre, y yo lo amaré y me voy a revelar por mi
propia voluntad a él”.
Judas -- no el
Iscariote -- le dijo, ”Maestro, ¿Qué ha pasado, ya que tu intentas mostrarte abiertamente
a nosotros pero no al mundo?”. Jesús le aclaró: todo el que me ame va aseguir
mis consejos, y mi Padre se alegrará de ello, y vamos a venir hasta
esa persona y permaneceremos en ella.
El que no me ama
no va a escuchar mis palabras.
Y las palabras que escuchan de mi no son
mías: sino del Padre que me envió.
Yo les he dicho
todas estas cosas mientras estemos ahora juntos: pero el ayudante,
el Espíritu Santo (3) que el Padre les enviará en mi nombre, va
a guiarlos en todo y les recordará todo lo que yo les he dicho.
Paz es lo que yo
les dejo en herencia, mi propia paz se las concedo, paz que el mundo no puede
ofrecer, éste es mi don.
No se dejen
intimidar por las inquetudes ni por el miedo.
Ustedes me han
escuchado decir: yo me voy para volver después.
Si me amasen,
estarían alegres de que yo vuelva al Padre, ya que el Padre es mayor que
mí.
Yo les he contado
sobre todo esto antes de que suceda, para que cuando se cumpla, ustedes
crezcan en confianza.
Yo no voy a decir
nada más por el momento, ya que el gobernante
de este mundo está en acción.
Éste no tiene ningún
poder sobre mí, pero el mundo debe llegar a saber que Yo amo al
Padre y que Yo actúo en conformidad con la voluntad del
Padre."
Los discípulos y
el mundo.15.- ( 25-27 ) 16.- ( 1-4 )
"Pero todo
esto fue para que se cumpliera lo que está escrito en la Ley de ellos: "Me
odiaron sin tener motivo".
Cuando el Ayudante
venga (4) el que yo les enviaré desde el Padre, el Espíritu de
la Verdad (5) que viene del Padre, él va a ser mi testigo.
Y también ustedes
serán mis testigos, ya que ustedes han estado conmigo desde el principio.
Yo les he dicho
todo esto para que no sean engañados.
Los van a echar
de sus templos, e incluso viene el tiempo cuando los que a ustedes los matan van
a creer que están haciendo un servicio sagrado a Dios.
Esto lo van a
hacer ya que ellos jamás han llegado a conocer ni al Padre ni a mí.
Yo les he dicho
todo de esto de antemano, para que cuando esto se cumpla recuerden todo lo
que yo les he dicho."
No es seguro que
aquellas personas humildes y sencillas que Jesús eligió para que fueran sus
compañeros de trabajo, ”entendieron”, o mejor dicho, captaron el mensaje del
Nazareno sobre alguien que habría de venir después de él y en forma de un
espíritu, pues esta palabra estaba en aquél entonces tan encubierta como
lo está hoy en día.
Era mucho más
fácil identificar como "ángeles" a los servidores de Dios y como
"demonios" a los lacayos de Satanás, aunque en ambos casos se sabía
muy poco acerca de la naturaleza de estos y la forma en que se manifestaban.
Se contaba como base lo que algunas personas habían experimentado al
respecto, sin haber sido este fenómeno algo común y cotidiano. Puesto que,
como lo vimos en el capítulo que trata sobre la conversación entre Jesús y
Nicodemo, sólo muy pocas personas podían darse cuenta de la importancia de
las palabras del Nazareno, ya que se trataba de algo que incluso después de
dos mil años de experiencia humana, aún es para la gran mayoría un gran
misterio o interrogante.
La causa de esta
situación en específico, es la manipulación que se ha hecho de la doctrina
cristiana, por parte de las grandes civilizaciones mediterráneas y durante
estos últimos dos mil años.
La palabra
”Cristo” e incluso ”Paracleto” que en muchas versiones bíblicas se usa en
lugar de el "Ayudante" o Espíritu Santo, verifican fehacientemente
este hecho.
Pero lo más grave
e imperdonable de todo, es decir, el mensaje específico que Jesús le
transmitió a sus discípulos y en los términos que ahora nosotros lo estamos
examinando, ha sido transformado y tergiversado de tal forma, que ha pasado a
ser cualquier cosa, menos una relación real y efectiva entre los seres
humanos y el Espíritu ( Dios).
La venida del
Ayudante ( Paracleto )16.- ( 5-15 )
"Yo no les he
hablado de esto hasta ahora, pues yo he estado con ustedes todo el tiempo; pero
dentro de poco voy a volver al que me envió.
¿Ninguno de
ustedes me pregunta a dónde voy?.
En lo más íntimo
de ustedes están tristes por lo que yo dije.
Yo sólo les digo
toda la verdad: ya que es por el bien de ustedes mismos que yo me voy, pues
si yo no me voy, el Ayudante (6) no vendrá hasta ustedes; pero si me
voy, yo lo enviaré hacia ustedes.
Y cuando el
venga, le va a demostrar al mundo lo errado que este ha estado, en cuanto al
"pecado",
en cuanto a quién
es el que realmente ha tenido razón y en lo que respecta al juicio.
En lo que
respecta al "pecado": porque se negaron a confiar en mi; ( espíritu
) en cuanto a quién estaba en lo cierto: debido a que yo voy a volver
al Padre y ustedes no me van a ver más; y en cuanto al juicio: el que
gobierna al mundo ha sido ya condenado.
Todavía tengo
mucho que contarles pero esto sería demasiado para ustedes ahora.
Cuando el Espíritu
de la Verdad venga (7) éste los va a guiar hasta la
verdad plena, ya que no va a hablar lo que se le ocurra, sino que va a
contarles todo aquello que él ha sido informado; y les va a revelar lo que
está por venir.
Él me va a
honrar, porque todo lo que él les va a revelar proviene de lo que es mío.
Todo lo que es
del Padre es también mío; por eso es que yo les dije: todo lo que él les
revele será tomado de lo que es mío."
16.- ( 25-33 )
"Yo les he
hablado sobre todo esto con comparaciones.
Viene el tiempo cuando yo ya no les seguiré
hablando de ese modo sino que con palabras precisas les contaré acerca de todo lo que
concierne al Padre.
Cuando ese tiempo
venga pedirán en mi nombre; y yo no les digo que seré yo mismo quién
interceda ante el Padre en lugar de ustedes, pues el Padre mismo los ama, ya
que ustedes me aman y confían en que yo he venido de parte de Dios.
Yo procedo del Padre y
he venido al mundo pero ahora yo dejo al mundo y vuelvo al Padre."
"Sus
discípulos le dijeron, ”Ahora estás hablando abiertamente y sin
comparaciones.
Ahora nos damos cuenta que tu lo sabes todo
y que no necesitas que alguien te pregunte para dar respuesta, por
eso es que confiamos en que tu vienes de parte de Dios”. Jesús les
respondió: "¿Confían ustedes finalmente en mí?
Escuchen; viene
el tiempo -- por lo demás ya está aquí --cuando los van a separar, cada cual
por su lado y me dejarán solo.
Pero a pesar de
todo Yo no estoy solo, pues el Padre está conmigo.
Yo les he dicho
todo esto para que encuentren consuelo en mi.
Ustedes van a
sufrir mucho en el mundo, pero sean valientes: Yo ya he vencido al mundo."
La oración de
Jesús. 17.- ( 1-8 )
"Después de
haber dicho esto, levanto Jesús la mirada hacia el cielo y dijo: Padre, el
tiempo se ha acercado: glorifica a tu hijo de la forma que tu hijo a ti te
glorifica; de tal modo que, precisamnete como tu le has conferido
poder sobre toda la humanidad, él pueda darles vida eterna a todos los
que Tu les has encomendado.
Y vida eterna es esto:
llegar a conocerte a ti, el único y verdadero Todopoderoso, y
también a Jesús, el que Tu has enviado.
Yo te he honrado
en el mundo cumpliendo con la misión que tu me distes.
Pero ahora,
Padre, glorifícame con la gloria que yo tengo en ti desde antes que el
mundo existera.
Yo he revelado tu nombre a todos
los que de el mundo tu me has dado.
Eran tuyos y tu
los has encomendado en mis manos, y ellos han aceptado tu palabra.
Al final ellos han
reconocido que todo lo que Tu me has dado proviene de tí ya que yo les he
entregado la enseñanza que Tu me has dado, y ellos realmente la han
aceptado y han confiado en que yo provengo de tí, y reconocido
que fuistes Tu quien me ha enviado."
La muerte de
Jesús. 19.- (28-30)
"Después de
esto, Jesús sintió que todo se había cumplido y que también las escrituras
habrían de cumplirse. Así es que gritó: "¡Tengo sed!".
Había cerca de
allí un vaso lleno con vinagre; por lo tanto mojaron una esponja en este
líquido y con la ayuda de una caña, se la acercaron a su boca y así le dieron
de beber.. Después de esto dijo Jesús, ”Ahora se ha cumplido”, e inclinó
su cabeza y entregó el Espíritu."
Esto es, sin más
ni menos, lo que se llama: verdad. No ilusiones ni fantasías, sino lo
que realmente sucedió en términos históricos con este hombre, que hace dos
mil años atrás vino al mundo para rectificar el rumbo de éste. Jesús, el
hombre de Nazaret fue ajusticiado sin ninguna contemplación, a causa de un
hecho que hasta el presente se mantiene sin explicación, debido a lo mucho
que desconocemos y no podemos entender de la realidad de la cual formamos
parte, pero además, debido al hecho de que hasta este instante aún no hemos
logrado asimilar el mensaje o evangelio de Jesús de Nazaret, a falta de la
constatación práctica del poder del espíritu, como se va a demostrar
en el relato que ahora continúa.
La tumba vacía. 20.- (1-31)
"Era bien
temprano aquél primer día de la semana y por lo tanto todavía estaba obscuro,
cuando María Magdalena vino al lugar de los entierros.. Ella vió que la
piedra que cubría la entrada de la tumba en la que Jesús fue depositado, no
estaba en su lugar, y corrió hasta donde estaba Pedro y el otro discípulo,
aquél que Jesús amaba. ”¡Se han llevado al Maestro de la tumba!”, dijo ella,
”y no sabemos dónde lo han dejado”.
Así es que Pedro fue con el otro discípulo hasta aquél lugar. Ellos
corrieron juntos, pero el otro discípulo corrió más rápido que Pedro y llegó
primero hasta la tumba,. Miró hacia adentro y vió el manto de cubrir que
estaba suelto sobre el suelo, pero el discípulo no entró. Pedro llegó hasta
el y entró y vió el lino en el suelo y también el manto con el cual habían
cubierto el cuerpo de Jesús; éste no estaba enrrollado con el otro lino sino
que estaba en otro lugar.. Entonces entró también el otro discípulo que había
llegado primero; el vió y constató que el cuerpo de Jesús no estaba allí.
Hasta este instante, ellos aún no habían entendido las escrituras, de
que Él habría de levantarse de entre los muertos. Después de esto
volvieron los discípulos a su casa."
La aparición a
María Magdalena.
"Pero María
continuó llorando cerca de la tumba,. De pronto dejó de llorar y miró hacia
la tumba, . y vió dos ángeles con vestiduras blancas sentados en el lugar
donde había estado el cuerpo de Jesús, uno en la cabecera y el otro a los
pies. Ellos dijeron, ”¿Mujer, porqué estas llorando?”. ” Ellos han sacado a
mi Maestro”, respondió ella, ”y yo no sé dónde lo han dejado”. En ese mismo
instante ella se volvió y vió a Jesús allí de pie, pero ella no se daba
cuenta aún de que era Jesús. Jesús le dijo, ” Mujer, ¿Porqué estás llorando?.
¿A quién estás buscando?”. Ella creyó que era el que ciudaba de las tumbas y
dijo, ” Señor, si eres tu el que lo ha sacado, díme dónde lo has dejado, y yo
lo iré a buscar”. Jesús le dijo, ”¡María!”. Ella se dió vuelta y le
dijo en hebreo, ” Rabbouni!” -- que significa: Maestro. Jesús le dijo
entonces, ”No me toques, pues aún no he vuelto al Padre. Pero anda i dile a
mis hermanos que yo voy donde mi Padre y Padre de ustedes, donde mi Dios y
Dios de ustedes ”. María Magdalena le contó entonces a los
discípulos, ”Yo he visto al Maestro”, y todo lo que éste le había dicho a
ella."
Aparición a los
discípulos.
"Ese día
temprano, el primer día de la semana, estaban cerradas las puertas del lugar
donde se encontraban los discípulos, por temor a los judíos. De pronto vino
Jesús y estuvo entre ellos. Él les dijo, ”La paz esté con todos
ustedes”, y después de esas palabras, les mostró a ellos sus manos y el
costado del pecho. Los discípulos estaban llenos de alegría al ver de nuevo a
su Maestro, el cual les dijo una vez más, ” No teman, la paz esté con
ustedes.
"De la misma
forma como el Padre me envió, yo los envío a ustedes.
Y después de
estas palabras sopló sobre ellos y les dijo: reciban el
Espíritu Santo."
Observese la semejanza
con este otro citado :
"Jehová
Dios hizo al hombre del polvo de la tierra y sopló el aliento de vida
sobre sus narices, y el hombre pasó a ser un alma viviente".
Se trata de hacer
una evaluación de la Vida, no a partir de nuestras deducciones, sino
sobre la base de lo que la Vida nos ha concedido, en virtud de su
propia magnificencia.
"Entonces le
dijo el diablo: ”Si tu eres hijo de Dios, dile entonces a las piedras que se
conviertan en pan”. Jesús le respondió: ”Está escrito: No sólo de pan vivirá
el ser humano”.
Esto es algo
inconcebible para nosotros, que la Vida dispone en la práctica de un
medio ejecutivo, efectivo y poderoso, como complemento perfecto para
relacionar todo lo que está activo en el universo y en especial en lo que
respecta al ser humano que es su propia imagen y semejanza.
Este medio es el Espíritu,
que cuenta con una tremenda libertad de acción, no en conformidad con la
leyes del universo, sino en concordancia con el poder que ha hecho posible
todo lo que existe y que además es responsable, tanto de sus propósitos como
de su meta final.
"Todo lo que
ustedes perdonen, será perdonado; y si ustedes le retienen a aguien sus
errores, se hará así."
"Tomás, que
era conocido como "el mellizo" y era uno de los doce, no estaba
presente cuando Jesús vino. Así es que los otros le contaron, ” Hemos visto
al Maestro”, pero él les respondió,
”Si yo no veo las heridas de sus manos ni puedo tocar allí donde le traspasaron
en el pecho, me niego a confiar en ustedes”. Ocho días después estaban los
discípulos en la casa de nuevo y Tomás se encontraba entre ellos. Las puertas
estaban cerradas, pero Jesús entró y de repente estuvo en medio de ellos. ”La
paz esté con todos ustedes”, dijo él. Entonces le dijo a Tomás, ” pón tus
dedos aquí; mira, aquí están mis manos. Dáme la tuya; toca en mi costado. No
seas más incrédulo sino que confía en mi”.
Tomás le
respondió, ”Mi Maestro y mi Dios”. Jesús le dijo: Ahora tu estás
seguro porque me has visto. Bienaventurados sean todos aquellos que
confían sin haber visto.
Hubieron muchas
otras cosas que Jesús hizo ante los ojos de sus discípulos, pero esas no
están contenidas en este escrito. Lo que aquí se cuenta, tiene el
propósito de ayudar a tener confianza en este Jesús, que es el mismo
Mesías, el hijo de Dios, y al hacerlo de este modo se acerquen
a la vida eterna.”
Vamos ahora a
resumir lo más importante de este evangelio, aunque primero debemos
clarificar que no es a Jesús, el hombre de Nazaret a quién estamos
examinando, sino que el contenido del evangelio según el apóstol Juan que
está relacionado con el tema principal de este ensayo, es decir, el factor
espiritual.
Para nosotros es
importante destacar tres aspectos que caracterizan cabalmente a este
evangelio. Para nuestra ayuda, hemos seleccionado tres citados que contienen
precisamente aquello que nosotros hemos comentado con nuestras propias
palabras.
Primero: sobre la naturaleza del espíritu y su
radio de acción:
"No te
sorprendas cuando te digo: "Tienes que nacer de "arriba".
El viento - espíritu
-sopla de donde quiere; y tu tal vez puedes escucharlo, pero tu no puedes
decir de dónde viene ni a dónde va. Algo semejante es lo que
sucede con los que nacen en el Espíritu."
La palabra espíritu
se puede reemplazar con una serie de símbolos, sinónimos o semejanzas, que
son fáciles de confundir con lo que la palabra misma significa.
Por eso es que,
como sucede también con la palabra "Dios" y la palabra
"vida", es necesario pasar por la experiencia de vida (vivir)
o darse cuenta (descubrir) para poder llegar a ”saber”
de qué se trata. A este fenómeno se le puede denominar como: ”llegar a tomar conciencia
de algo” o ”alcanzar noción de algo”, pero sólo en un nivel totalmente
personal o individual.
Existe una gran
diferencia entre, contactar y constatar lo que el espíritu es y
hacerse una "imagen" de él. Esto es algo que cada cual debe tener
muy presente, si es que realmente se aspira a llegar a la verdad.
De acuerdo a este
primer citado que nosotros hemos elegido, podríamos decir que es el espíritu
el que siempre toma la iniciativa y se da a conocer, independientemente de lo
que nosotros nos propongamos.
El espíritu
se moviliza no tan sólo en el aire, sino por todas partes, por ello es
que se le compara al viento, específicamente en cuanto a que se trata
de movimiento, acción o actividad, factor característico y fundamental de
todo lo que está vivo.
La alusión a
"nacer de nuevo" en lo que respecta al espíritu, se debe al
hecho de que, una vez que sea ha entrado en conocimiento o contacto con el espíritu,
se produce real y efectivamente un cambio o modificación de nuestro estado
conciente de existencia o vida, que se asemeja a un nuevo punto de partida y
que por lo tanto se puede considerar como el nacimiento de una nueva persona.
Cómo y porqué
sucede de ésta manera, es algo que uno va aprendiendo a conocer, en la medida
que uno va creciendo espiritualmente.
Nosotros
necesitamos solamente de estas informaciones preliminares, para hacer los
preparativos indispensables en nuestro interior, de tal forma que podamos
llegar a verificar, real y efectivamente, la actividad del espíritu.
Segundo: La
revelación del Espíritu en la persona de Jesús de Nazaret.
" Y
las palabras que escuchan de mi no son mías: sino del Padre que
me envió. Yo les he dicho todas estas cosas mientras estamos ahora juntos: pero
el ayudante, el Espíritu Santo, que el Padre les enviará en mi
nombre, va a guiarlos en todo y les recordará todo lo que yo les he
dicho.."
La diferencia es
enorme entre este Jesús de Nazaret y la mayoría de los líderes religiosos. Lo
que es fundamentalmente diferente, es el reconocimiento que se hace en cuanto
a quién es el que está enseñando por medio de ellos.
"Y las
palabras que escuchan de mi no son mías: sino del Padre que me
envió".
Esto es algo
absolutamente relevante en lo que respecta a la misión del Nazareno, ya que
él mismo testifica y reconoce que toda la sabiduría que emana de sus labios,
no es algo que a él se le ocurra, no es lo que él entiende o deduce, no es
algo que se pueda considerar como fruto de su inteligencia humana, sino de Dios
mismo que él permite o deja hablar por su intermedio, para enseñarnos que es
de esta manera como Dios quiere tener una relación con cada ser humano,
ya que nosotros, como seres humanos, somos capaces de llevar el espíritu
en nosotros para guiarnos hacia el éxito, en lugar del error permanente.
En conformidad
con todo esto, es el Espíritu mismo que predica sobre sí mismo a
través de Jesús de Nazaret. Y lo que es más importante de todo, es que el Espíritu
mismo nos está motivando hacia algo que empezaría a entrar en actividad
después de la partida de Jesús, es decir, el inicio de una nueva era o
sistema de cosas, que cuenta con el Espíritu como el factor de
conducción que nos habrá de guiar, una vez más, a la meta que Dios ha
tenido reservada desde el principio mismo para la humanidad, es decir, el
Paraíso, el Reino de Dios o la vida eterna.
El Ayudante, el
Espíritu Santo o el Espíritu de la Verdad, es aquello que Dios aporta de sí
mismo a la persona que somos y tiene como función varias tareas a realizar,
cada una de ellas en nuestro propio beneficio.
Entre las más
destacadas podemos señalar las siguientes:
1.- Dios mismo revela de este modo su presencia,
su naturaleza e intenciones. Esto es practicamnente un privilegio para la
persona que ha logrado esta experiencia de vida, ya que en términos generales
estamos apartados de la gracia de Dios.
2.- Gracias a su revelación, se produce un
cambio radical en nuestra persona, en todo lo que respecta a la vida, es
decir, en cuanto al estado en general en que nos encontramos bajo las
presentes circunstancias.
3.- Vuelve a ser activada la parte espiritual
del ser humano, que es el factor en común que el ser humano tiene con Dios y
que es el único recurso que podemos disponer para lograr la adecuada
dominación y gobierno de nuestra naturaleza humana y en todo sentido.
4.- Se obtiene contacto y conexión con la verdad,
lo que de por sí significa que ya no se tiene ninguna necesidad de atenerse a
”teorías” o suposiciones sobre una u otra cosa, ya que uno ha llegado a
constatar y verificar lo más fundamental.
5.- Uno mismo siente y percibe la liberación de
su propio ser, ya que el guía o ayudante que ahora nos acompaña, en la forma
de un complemento perfecto, es quién asume la función de coordinador de todas
nuestras funciones, lo que posibilita con el transcurso del tiempo, que
logremos una calidad de vida o percepción de ésta, en forma armónica y placentera, no tan sólo en lo que respecta
a nosotros mismos, sino que además con nuestros semejantes y la creación
entera
Y tercero: La
relación entre Dios - Espíritu - Vida.
"Pero viene
el tiempo --que por lo demás ya está aquí--cuando los que verdaderamente aman
al Padre lo van a hacer en espíritu y en verdad: pues
ese es el tipo de personas que el Padre busca.
Dios es espíritu, y los que lo
aman deben hacerlo en espíritu y en verdad".
No podemos
finalizar este pequeño exámen a este evangelio, sin antes prestar cierta
consideración a este citado, que de manera explícita relaciona estas tres
bases fundamentales de la realidad de la cual formamos parte: Dios, el
Espíritu y la Vida.
A ellos está el
ser humano en la imperiosa necesidad de unirse, si se pretende de manera
fidedigna, constatar todo el auténtico potencial humano.
Si no lo hacemos,
y esto es algo que lo verificamos constantemente, postergamos de esta manera
la solución a muchos de nuestros problemas, a causa de las insufiencias que
nos dominan y que al final obstaculizan incluso nuestros proyectos más puros
o bien intencionados.
Viene el tiempo,
como Jesús mismo acostumbraba decir, cuando los seres humanos van a llegar a
constatar que esta combinación Dios -Espíritu -Vida, es en realidad el
único cimiento que nos posibilita con éxito, un avance permanente y
satisfactorio.
El Espíritu
es el medio coordinador que posibilita continuidad, efecto y congruencia
entre todas las cosas creadas y el Creador.
Sin él no existen
cambios o transformaciones. Sin estos no hay vida.
El Espíritu,
subrayan tanto Jesús como el apóstol Juan, es aquello que siempre ha existido
y que está por sobre todo, pues es superior a todo.
