The book of Wisdom (Part Two)
Wisdom sought is Wisdom found.
6: 12-25
"Wisdom is brilliant, she never fades.
By those who love her, she is readily seen, by those who seek her, she
is readily found.
She anticipates those who desire her by making herself known first.
Whoever gets up early to seek her will have no trouble but will find
her sitting at the door.
Meditating on her is understanding in its perfect form, and anyone
keeping awake for her will soon be free from care.
For she herself searches everywhere for those who are worthy of her,
benevolently appearing to them on their ways, anticipating their every
thought.
For wisdom begins with the sincere desire for instruction, care for
instruction means loving her, loving her means keeping her laws, attention to
her laws guarantees incorruptibility, and incorruptibility brings us near to
God; the desire for wisdom thus leads to sovereignty.
If then thrones and sceptres delight you, monarchs of the nations,
honour Wisdom, so that you may reign forever."
Solomon proposes to describe Wisdom.
"What Wisdom is and how she was born, I shall now explain; I shall
hide no mysteries from you, but shall follow her steps from the outset of her
origin, setting out what we know of her in full light,
without departing from the truth.
Blighting envy is not the companion for me, for envy has nothing in
common with Wisdom.
In the greatest number of wise men lies the world's salvation, in a
sagacious king the stability of a people.
Learn, therefore, from my words; the gain will be yours".
We are now in the heart of which the wisdom is in specific. This will
help us to understand the meaning of the term spirit and its importance, in
conformity to the fact that the wisdom is a spiritual gift. The wisdom is the
contrary to envies and the knowledge, although as in the case of soul and the
spirit, we have still enormous
difficulties to understand the difference between wisdom and knowledge.
The basic and elementary difference rest in the fact that wisdom is
conscious and the knowledge the opposite, that is to say, the unconscious.
The unconscious is the one that urges us to look for knowledge. Nobody looks
for what already has but what the one still needs to know. The one that has
wisdom does not need to continue looking for, because he already has the
security of what it wanted to know. Another form to understand the difference
in convincing terms is using the word: experience. The wisdom is of by itself
accumulated experience, whereas the knowledge is direct related to the lack
of experience.
Wise person is not that one that has more knowledge, but that one with
more experience.
I have chosen those two words - envies and knowledge-, like specific
representation of the two human tendencies more characteristics, that are
opposed to the magnificent and intelligent typical structure of the nature or
the creation. With the use of these two, the human beings only have created a
tremendous disorganisation in the entire reality.
There is no human resource, with the exception of the spirit, that can
help us to rectify our own being and in totally harmony with the whole
nature. Because the one that maintains everything, not in chaos but in an
incomparable order is of spiritual origin and has the wisdom like one of the
elementary resources to his disposition.
Eulogy of Wisdom
7 : 22-30.-
"For within her is a spirit intelligent, holy, unique, manifold,
subtle, mobile, incisive, unsullied, lucid, invulnerable, benevolent, shrewd,
irresistible, beneficent, friendly to human beings, steadfast, dependable,
unperturbed, almighty, all-surveying, penetrating all intelligent, pure and
most subtle spirits.
For Wisdom is quicker to move than any motion; she is so pure, she
pervades and permeates all things.
She is a breath of the power of God, pure emanation of the glory of the
Almighty; so nothing impure can find its way into her.
For she is a reflection of the eternal light, untarnished mirror of
God's active power, and image of his goodness.
Although she is alone, she can do everything; herself unchanging, she
renews the world, and generation after generation, passing into holy souls,
she makes them into God's friends and prophets;
for God loves only those who dwell with Wisdom.
She is indeed more splendid than the sun, she outshines all the
constellations; compared with light, she takes first place, for light must
yield to night, but against Wisdom evil cannot prevail".
Observe the comparison that is made here between the Wisdom and evil,
and in addition, the confirmation that is added as far as the sovereignty of
this gift of God, in relation to the "the most subtle of all the wild
beasts that God had created ". As I have expressed it from the
beginning, exists an intimate relation between those three terms that also in
this essay we are used quite often. They are:

The wisdom can be added to these like a species of attribute in common.
In this form we can obtain a greater and a better perspective on the absolute
reality in which we participate and that by no way can we aspire "to
understand it" to fullness, from the point of view of our human reason.
Since we never have wanted to accept the hierarchy of these in the reality
and the constituent order of everything what exists. On this and much more it
treats now in the text that comes.
Indictment of idolatry: the deification of nature
13: 1-9. -
"Yes, naturally stupid are all who are unaware of God, 1
God
and who, from good things seen,
have not been able to discover
Him-who-is, 2
Him who is
or, by studying the works, have not recognised the Artificer. 3
The Artificer
Fire, however, or wind, or the swift air,
the sphere of the stars, impetuous water, heaven's lamps,
are what they have held to be the gods who govern the world.
If, charmed by their beauty, they have taken these for gods,
let them know how much the Master of these excels
them, 4
The Master
since it was the very source of beauty that created them.
And if they have been impressed by their power and energy,
let them deduce from these how much mightier
is he that has formed them,
since through the grandeur and beauty of the creatures
we may, by analogy, contemplate their
Author. 5
Author
Small blame, however, attaches to them, for perhaps they go astray only
in their search for God and their eagerness to find him; familiar with his
works, they investigate them and fall victim to appearances, seeking so much
beauty.
But even so, they have no excuse: if they are capable of acquiring
enough knowledge
to be able to investigate the world, how have they been so slow to find
its Master?"
Origin of the cult of idols
14 : 12-14.-
"The idea of making idols was the origin of fornication, their
discovery corrupted life.
They did not exist at the beginning, they will not exist for ever;
human vanity brought them into the world, and a quick end is therefore
reserved for them".
The consequences of idolatry
14: 22-30. -
"It is not enough, however, for them to have such misconceptions
about God; for, living in the fierce warfare of ignorance, they call these
terrible evils peace.
With their child-murdering rites, their occult mysteries, or their
furious orgies with outlandish customs,
they no longer retain any purity in their lives or their marriages, one
treacherously murdering another or wronging him by adultery.
Everywhere a welter of blood and murder, theft and fraud, corruption,
treachery, riot, perjury,
disturbance of decent people, forgetfulness of favours, pollution of
souls, sins against nature,
disorder in marriage, adultery and debauchery.
For the worship of idols with no name is the beginning, cause, and end
of every evil.
For these people either carry their merrymaking to the point of frenzy,
or they prophesy what is not true, or they live wicked lives, or they perjure
themselves without hesitation; since they put their trust in lifeless idols
they do not reckon their false oaths can harm them.
But they will be justly punished for this double crime: for degrading
the concept of God by adhering to idols; and for wickedly perjuring
themselves in contempt for what is holy".
These texts that has been delivered from hand to hand and from a
language to the other, of course lose with time their original clearness,
this is something that we cannot ignore. In spite of everything, it is easy
to have a clear notion of everything what here means and in almost each line,
since it is easy to recognise all these situations, even in our days, like
something common and current. What it is tried to emphasise in this writing,
is the great difference between all that exists in reality - in the nature or
in the creation - and what does not exist in real form.
It is easy to speak about the creation or universe, the life, the evil,
etc., without understand, in spite of everything, that are things that we
cannot get to consider in all its dimension, since these demand much more
that thoughts to be able to get to appreciate them suitably.
For that reason it is so difficult to the majority to become aware on
what the spiritual factor is, real and objectively. Because this dimension is
something extremely special that cannot be perceived, without a specific
help.
This "Book of the Wisdom" is a little more explicit, although
not as much as will be the fourth gospel that I am going to take in
consideration after this writing.
According to which it is explained in the Genesis, in form of symbols,
about the entrance of evil in the world, it seemed that the human being fell
under the cleverness of another being, namely, the serpent. For that reason
until this day there are many people that ask themselves, why we must undergo
the consequences of which another one it has done. But now we are coming with
the help of this text, to have one more clear vision of how and why our
ancestors gave rise this problematic one. In the gospel according to the
apostle John, it is the man from Nazareth that is going to clarify still more
what this text explains and that once again deserves to be read:
"For the worship of idols with no name is the beginning, cause,
and end of every evil.
The idea of making idols was the origin of fornication, their discovery
corrupted life.
They did not exist at the beginning, they will not exist for ever;
human vanity brought them into the world, and a quick end is therefore
reserved for them."
I am going to finalise this fast examination to the "Book of
Wisdom" with some words on King Solomon. He was very known and respected
in the whole world by the great wisdom that emanated of his person and he was
also admired by all the riches that he got to have. Most of these he received
like gifts and donations from those who recognised in him an enormous amount
of wisdom, incomparable shrewdness and sagacity.
Unfortunately, the King Solomon also has been known because of his
greater weakness. That particular thing that in the end finished leaving in
the anything all the magnificence that he got to show and by which was so
admired. All know the enormous amount of wives and concubines with which he
got to share his days. Situation that in the end confused him of such way,
that until the own adoration that he had towards whom granted to him the
possibility of experience so much wisdom, vanished as the nothing and even
took him to recognise others "gods".
Exists an explanation to all this personal history of the King Solomon,
but I will not enter details. These are in addition compiled in the First
book of the Kings and in books of Chronicles of the bible, for all those that
have interest in getting to know more thorough the life and works of the King
Solomon. As a form to finalise the examination of this writing, I want to
make notice that most of the information, indication and references that this
book contains, they are not a property of the King. It was in reality a
property of the spirit of wisdom that walked with him and helped him during
the time the King was to "her" faithful.

Libro de la
Sabiduría ( Segunda Parte)
El que busca
sabiduría encuentra sabiduría.
"La
sabiduría es brillante, no se marchita jamás.
Para quienes la
aman es ella fácil de llevar, para quienes la buscan es ella fácil de
encontrar.
Ella siempre se
anticipa a quienes la desean och se da a conocer voluntariamente.
Cualquiera que la
busque a temprana edad no va a tener ningún tipo de problemas sino que la va
a encontrar dispuesta de antemano.
Meditar en su compañía
es entendimiento perfecto y todo aquél que la retiene consigo se quita de
encima todo tipo de preocupaciones.
Pues por sí misma
busca ella por todos lados aquello que sea de beneficio para quienes la
cuidan, siempre disponible en todo tipo de quehaceres, de antemano preparada
para ayudar a estos.
Pues, la
sabiduría empieza con el deseo sincero de tener su instrucción, la necesidad
de instrucción es lo mismo que amar la sabiduría, amarla significa atenerse a
sus consejos, seguir sus consejos garantiza incorruptibilidad, y la
incorruptibilidad nos acerca a Dios; desear la sabiduría conduce por lo tanto
a la libertad.
Ya que es poder y
dominio lo que a ustedes les satisface, gobernantes del mundo, honren la
sabiduría, para que puedan gobernar para siempre". 6 : 12-25.-
Solomón se
propone describir la Sabiduría.
"Lo que es
la sabiduría y de donde procede voy ahora a aclararles; no voy a esconder
ningún tipo de misterios para ustedes, sino que voy a seguir sus huellas
desde su mismo principio, mostrándoles todo lo que sabemos de ella a la luz
del día, sin apartarnos un momento de la verdad.
Envidias desmoralizantes
no me hacen compañía, pues la envidia no tienen nada en común con la
sabiduría.
En el gran número
de sabios descansa la salvación del mundo y en la sagacidad de los
gobernantes la estabilidad del pueblo.
Aprendan, por
eso, de mis palabras; la ganancia será de ustedes".
Nos encontramos
ahora en el corazón mismo de lo que es la sabiduría en específico. Esto nos
ayudará a entender la significación del término: espíritu y su importancia,
en conformidad a que la sabiduría es un don espiritual.
La sabiduría es
en el fondo lo contrario a la envidia y los conocimientos, a pesar de que
como en el caso de alma y del espíritu, todavía tenemos enormes dificultades
para diferenciar entre sabiduría y conocimiento. La diferencia básica y
elemental es que la sabiduría es el conciente mismo y los conocimientos lo
contrario, es decir, la inconciencia. La inconciencia es la que nos incita a
buscar conocimientos. Nadie busca lo que ya tiene sino aquello que le hace
falta. El que tiene sabiduría no necesita seguir buscando, pues ya tiene la
seguridad de aquello que quería saber.
Otra forma de entender
esta diferencia en términos convincentes, es utilizando la palabra:
experiencia. La sabiduría es de por sí experiencia acumulada, mientras que
los conocimientos son producto de la falta de experiencia.
Sabio no es aquél
que tiene más conocimientos, sino aquél con más experiencia.
He elegido esas
dos palabras, envidia y conocimientos, como representación específica de las
dos tendencias humanas más características, que se contraponen a la magnífica
e inteligente estructura típica de la naturaleza o de la creación.
Con el uso de
estas dos, hemos los seres humanos creado solamente una tremenda
desorganización en todo lo creado, partiendo de nosotros mismos como el
elemento más inestable de todo el medio ambiente o naturaleza.
No existe ningún
recurso humano, a excepción del espíritu, que nos pueda ayudar a rectificar
nuestro propio ente y hacerlo algo totalmente adaptado al resto de la
naturaleza, ya que aquél que mantiene todo lo existente, no en un caos sino
en un orden incomparable, es de orígen espiritual y por lo tanto cuenta con
la sabiduría como uno de los recursos elementales a su disposición.
Eulogio a la
sabiduría.
"En lo más
íntimo es ella un espíritu inteligente, distinta, única, múltiple, sutil,
móvil, crítica, inmaculada, brillante, inexpugnable, benevolente, sagaz,
irresistible, benéfica, amable con todos los seres humanos, estable, leal,
pacífica, majestuosa, todo lo inspecciona, penetra en todo lo que está vivo,
pura y la más fina de todos los espíritus.
Pues la sabiduría
se mueve más rápido que cualquier movimiento; ella es tan genuina, que lo
penetra todo y escudriña todo.
Ella es el
aliento poderoso de Dios mismo, radiación genuina de la gloria del
Todopoderoso; de tal modo que nada impuro puede acercarse a ella.
Pues ella es un reflejo
de la luz eterna, la imagen transparente de la potencia activa de Dios, y la
semejanza de la bondad del Creador.
Por eso es que
ella es única, todo lo puede; a pesar de ser siempre la misma, renueva ella
al mundo,
generación trás
generación, visita ella el alma de los puros, para hacerlos amigos de Dios y
profetas;
pues Dios ama
sólo a aquellos que han tenido amistad con ella.
Ella es sin la
menor duda más radiente que el sol mismo, y sobrepasa en brillo a todas las
constelaciones estelares; en comparación con la luz del día ella obtiene el
primer lugar, pues la luz del día debe retroceder ante la noche, pero a la
sabiduría, el mal jamás podrá doblegar”. 7 : 22-30.-
Observese la
comparación que aquí se hace entre la Sabiduría y el Mal y además la confirmación
que se añade en cuanto a la soberanía de este don de Dios, es decir la
sabiduría, en relación a la "más sutil de todas las bestias salvajes que
Dios había creado".
Como lo he
expresado desde el principio, existe una íntima relación entre esos tres
términos que también en este texto se utilizan muy a menudo. Ellos son:
Dios ---- Espíritu ---- Vida
Se puede agregar
la sabiduría a estos, como una especie de atributo en común, para de
esta forma lograr una mayor y mejor perspectiva sobre la absoluta realidad de
la cual participamos y que de ningún modo podemos aspirar a "entenderla"
a plenitud, desde el punto de vista de nuestro propio raciocinio humano. Y
esto se debe a que jamás hemos querido aceptar la jerarquía de estos en la
realidad y el orden constituyente de todo lo que existe.
Sobre esto y
mucho más trata lo que ahora viene a continuación:
Acusación de
idolatría : la divinización de la naturaleza.
"Si,
realmente abominables son todos los que viven inconcientes de Dios, aquellos
que en conformidad con toda la belleza existente, no han sido capaces de
percibir a Aquél que es, o por medio de estudios de todo tipo, no han podido
identificar al Creador.
Al fuego y al
viento, remolinos y estrellas, los océanos y los astros celestiales,
han catalogado
ellos como "dioses" que gobiernan al mundo.
En caso de que,
impresionados ante tanta belleza, han puesto a esas cosas como ”dioses”, deben
saber cuanto más el Maestro de ellas sobrepasa lo creado, pues fue la
auténtica fuente de la magnificencia la que trajo a la existencia todas esas
cosas.
En caso de que
hayan quedado admirados por los poderes y la energía, pudieron haber llegado
a la conclusión de cuánto más poderoso es aquél que hizo posible todo esto, ya
que por medio de la grandeza y esplendor de lo creado se puede, por analogía,
reflexionar sobre el Autor.
Pequeños detalles
los extravían y tal vez se equivocan sólo en la forma de buscar a Dios y en
el afán de encontrarlo; diestros en conocer las obras de Él, las investigan y
quedan estancados en lo superficial, en la búsqueda de ellos entre tanta
magnificencia.
Pero incluso así,
ellos no tienen excusa: si están en condiciones de asimilar tanto conocimiento
e investigar
sobre todo lo que es posible, ¿Porqué les resulta tan difícil entonces
encontrar al Maestro?" 13 : 1-9.-
No existe la
menor duda en cuanto a que las actitudes humanas no cambian demasiado con el
transcurso de los tiempos.
Han existido
muchas generaciones y muchas civilizaciones durante el período de tiempo que
dista entre este escrito y nuestros días, sin embargo la problemática parece
ser la misma de siempre.
Para mayor ilustración
sobre este punto he añadido los siguientes citados que se incluyen en el
"Libro de la Sabiduría".
Origen del culto
a los ídolos. Ídolos = imagenes, amuletos, animales, talismanes, representaciones,
etc... 14 : 12-14.-
"La
tendencia a atenerse a los ídolos fue el principio del libertinaje, pues esta
refleja la confusión y el desorden interno del ser humano.
Esos ídolos no
han existido desde el principio, ni tampoco van a estar presentes para
siempre; pues fue la vanidad humana la que los trajo al mundo.
Y por ese motivo
está reservado un trágico final para todos aquellos que confían en los
ídolos".
Las consecuencias
de la idolatría.-
14 : 22-30.-
"No es
suficiente para aquellos que tienen un malentendido tan grande sobre Dios; vivir
en medio de constantes desavenencias que produce la ignorancia, sino que
además consideran todo tipo de impudicia como cosa normal.
Rituales que
tienen por objeto sacrificar a niños, ceremonias secretas y orgías brutales
con rasgos extravagantes, no dejan nada puro en su forma de vivir o en sus
matrimonios, un asesinato detrás del otro o frivolidades de todo tipo.
Por todos lados
una sola mezcolanza de muerte y sangre, robos y estafas, corrupción, traición, peleas,
soborno, trato repugnante a personas honestas, falta de gratitud, destrucción
de almas puras, relaciones pervertidas, matrimonios desordenados,
prostitución y vicios.
Pues, la
adoración a ídolos que en realidad no existen
es el principio, la
base, y el final de todo lo malo.
( Maldad )
Para aquellos que
tanto son conducidos hasta la locura con sus orgías, o profetizan lo que no
es cierto, o viven escandalosamente, o mienten sobre todo sin temor alguno; ya
que se han confiado a cosas inanimadas no consideran que la falsedad de ellos
les pueda causar daño.
Pero serán
castigados con toda la razón por estos dos delitos: por ensuciar el concepto
de Dios al asirse de ídolos; (cosas inanimadas) y por jurar en falso a modo
de desprecio por todo lo que es sagrado".
Estos textos que
han pasado de mano en mano y de un idioma al otro, pierden por supuesto con
el tiempo su nitidez original, esto es algo que no podemos ignorar. A pesar
de todo, se alcanza a tener una clara noción de todo aquello que aquí se
quiere decir y en casi cada línea, ya que es fácil reconocer todas estas
situaciones, incluso en nuestros días, como algo común y corriente.
Lo que se
pretende destacar en este escrito, es la gran diferencia entre lo que
realmente existe - en la naturaleza o realidad entera - y lo que no existe en
forma real y concreta, es decir, aquello que a nosotros se nos ocurre
y que al final refleja la desorganización de nuestros recursos internos y la
carencia que padecemos de una adecuada adaptación a la realidad y a la vida.
Es fácil hablar
de la creación o universo, de la vida, de la maldad, etc., sin entender, a
pesar de todo, de que se trata de cosas que no podemos llegar a considerar en
toda su dimensión, ya que éstas exigen mucho más que pensamientos para poder
llegar a apreciarlas adecuadamente.
Por ello es que
resulta tan difícil para la mayoría el poder llegar a tomar conciencia de lo
que es el factor espiritual, real y objetivamente, pues se trata de algo
sumamente especial que no se puede llegar a tener noción o conocimiento, sin
una ayuda específica, ya que es algo que se encuentra más allá de todas
nuestras expectativas.
Si se hace algún
tipo de paralelo entre las dos escrituras que hasta aquí hemos podido
examinar a grandes rasgos, se puede observar facilmente que este "Libro
de la Sabiduría" es un poco más explícito, aunque no tanto como lo será
el cuarto evangelio que vamos a tomar en consideración después de este
escrito.
De acuerdo a lo
que se explica en el "Génesis", en forma de símbolos, acerca de la
entrada del mal en el mundo, pareciera como que el ser humano cayó bajo la
astucia de otro ser - la serpiente - y por ello hasta este día hay muchos que
se preguntan, porqué hemos de ser nosotros los que debamos sufrir las
consecuencias de lo que otro ha hecho. Pero ahora pasamos y con la ayuda de
este texto, a tener una visión más clara de cómo y porqué nuestros
antepasados dieron lugar a esta problemática. En el evangelio según el
apóstol Juan, es el "Nazareno" quien va a dilucidar aún más lo que
este texto explica y que merece ser leído una vez más:
"La tendencia a atenerse a
los ídolos fue el principio del libertinaje,
pues esta refleja la confusión
y el desorden interno del ser humano".
"Pues, la
adoración a ídolos que en realidad no existen es el principio, la base, y el
final de todo lo malo.
Esos ídolos no
han existido desde el principio, ni tampoco van a estar presentes para
siempre;
pues fue la
vanidad humana la que los trajo al mundo".
Voy a finalizar
este rápido examen al "Libro de la Sabiduría" con algunas palabras
sobre el Rey Salomón, que además de ser conocido y respetado en todo el mundo
por la gran sabiduría que emanaba de su persona, fue también admirado y
honrado por todas las riquezas que él llegó a poseer, la mayoría de éstas
recibidas como regalos y donaciones de parte de quienes reconocieron en él,
una enorme cantidad de sabiduría, perspicacia y sagacidad incomparables.
Desgraciadamente,
el Rey Salomón ha sido también conocido a causa de su debilidad más grande.
Aquella que al final terminó por dejar en la nada toda la maginificencia que
él llegó a ostentar y por la cual fue tan admirado. Todos saben de la enorme
cantidad de esposas y concubinas con las cuales él llegó a compartir sus
días, situación que al final lo confundió de tal manera, que hasta la propia
adoración que él tuvo hacia quién le concedió la posibilidad de experimentar
tanta sabiduría, se desvaneció como la nada e incluso lo llevó a reconocer
otras "divinidades".
Existe una
explicación a toda esta historia personal del Rey Salomón, pero yo no entraré
en detalles. Estos están por lo demás recopilados en el Libro Primero de los
Reyes y en los libros de las Crónicas de la biblia, para todos aquellos que
tengan interés en llegar a conocer más a fondo la vida y obras del Rey
Salomón.
Como una forma de
finalizar la revisión de este escrito, quiero hacer notar que la mayoría de
las informaciones, consejos y alusiones que este libro contiene, no son una
propiedad del Rey Salomón, sino del espíritu de sabiduría que caminó con él y
lo ayudó durante todo el tiempo que el Rey le fue fiel.
"Llegar a conocerte (Dios) es
en verdad la virtud perfecta,
y sentir tu poder (espíritu) es el
primer paso hacia la vida eterna." 15 : 3.-
